FITTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR WP AIR BAG CONVERSION KIT

Before fitting the new boss to the column it is important that the steering wheel position and boss position on the column are identified. The boss should be loosely fitted to the column with the indicator cancelling slots located in the ‘top to bottom’ position with the steering wheel in the straight ahead position. In addition, please ensure the horn contact will touch the back of the boss when fully tightened down. It will be necceassary to manipulate the horn contact spring so as it does not touch any other areas of the boss. The horn contact only needs to sit gently against the back of the boss, enough to make a secure contact. At this point apply a little grease to the contact face on the back of the boss. Once you are happy with the position of the wheel and boss the steering wheel securing nut can be tightened down and the nine steering wheel securing screws can be tightened. Remove the SRS indicator bulb and bulb holder from the back of the speedo pod. Reconnect the battery. The horn can be tested by earthling out the loose horn contact wire in the boss to the steering column. If the horn is not working, check to make sure the horn contact and the boss are making a good connection. Connect the horn push and place into the boss. It will be necessary to ensure there is a good contact between the horn push earthling point and the inner side of the boss. If necessary scrape away some paint to get a good contact point. Refit the column cowling making sure the boss can turn without fowling the cowling. Please retain all the items you discarded as they can be refitted to the car if necessary.
